The story of Poseidon is a significant part of Ancient Greek mythology. He was the god of the sea, earthquakes and horses. He was the son of the Titans, Cronus and Rhea. In the well-known 12 Labors of Heracles, Poseidon posed a challenge to Hercules by sending a sea-monster named the Hydra to attack the city of Lerna. Heracles was successful in overcoming the challenge and was able to win the admiration of Poseidon, who acknowledged his bravery.
